Meet The Team

Kim Rodden

Owner / Instructor / Horse Trainer

An equestrian for her entire life thus far, Kim Rodden is the owner of Hidden Ponds Equestrian Center (HPEC). Kim got her first horse at the age of 12 years old and has shown successfully in Hunter/Jumpers with Jumpers being her primary focus. A well-rounded rider, she has also shown in the Quarter Horse and Appaloosa circuits doing both Pleasure and Halter classes. Over the course of her career, Kim has bred and trained horses and has also trained many off-track Thoroughbreds.

In 2012 HPEC was opened with services that included English and Western riding lessons, summer camps, horse leases, training and sales. Over the years Kim and her students have successfully shown at many Hunter / Jumper shows within North and South Carolina. 2020 brought new changes for HPEC as the facility they were operating out of closed its doors. Kim and her family decided to re-open the business on their 30+ acre property in Monroe, NC.

Over the course of COVID-19 the barn and arenas have started to take shape and, though the process is ongoing, HPEC is once again offering English and Western lessons, leases, training, and sales.

Harlie Rodden

Instructor / Horse Trainer

Following in her mother’s footsteps, Harlie Rodden, joins HPEC as a lesson instructor and horse trainer.

Harlie’s experience with horses began over 15 years ago with success in both English and Western riding. Over the years she has attended many clinics and shows in both disciplines. As a Junior Amateur, Harlie has shown 3’ - 3’6 in Hunter classes and derbies as well as 3’9 in the Jumper divisions. On the Western side of things, Harlie has shown successfully as a barrel racer.

Continuing her equestrian career, Harlie is now a lesson instructor in both English and Western style riding. When she’s not teaching, Harlie enjoys training her two horses Aztec and Poncho.
